Wendy’s Story
Wendy’s story goes back to 2006 when she created a unique travel business from scratch after her little boy fell into an unenclosed swimming pool. They were the lucky ones, getting him out safely. There and there she decided to solve the problem for others.
What followed was a business which, by 2019 had grown to 8-figure revenue, had thousands of customers and a team of 35.
Success…
The success in the business was in identifying a valuable niche within a competitive market place and then creating a strategy and a compelling, engaging and commercial consumer brand to address it. She then paired this with unique differentiated product resulting in control over commercials, channels and driving both engagement and lifetime value.
Behind the scenes…
Wendy developed a strong team culture based around being a ‘Business of Impact’, recruited the best people she could find and developed systems and processes that built the crucial element of trust within the culture.
Wendy says that the work she did on the team and culture was one of the single most important strategic moves she made towards achieving momentum that drove a 65% annual increase in bookings in 2019 and £2.5 million in revenue in just one month at the beginning of 2020.
Failure…
Covid dealt a bitter blow to the travel industry and resulted in the closure of the business. I Wendy has struggled through the 3 years since that have been ‘as tough as hell’ but she’s survived and learnt plenty along the way.
Key Issues in the £1m to £10m phase…
